Feeling the Heat – Meet the Scientists
Presented by NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment and Australian MuseumEver wondered what it’s like when your everyday, nine to five work is facing up to the uncertain future of our planet?
Climate change is confronting and complex, and no less so for the climate scientists who spend their days deep in data to understand what our likely future might be. They, too, are wrangling with how it makes them feel, and yet still they persevere, sifting through the facts and figures to make sense of where we are headed.
Join climate scientists from the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s Climate Research Team, and their research partners at the Centre of Research Excellence for Climate Extremes, UNSW, for an evening talk. Hear direct from the researchers about how they feel faced with a changing climate, the hard work that they do and how we can prepare for the future.
They are a group of passionate individuals who have dedicated their lives to studying climate change. These people write complex research papers, unpacking every aspect of climate change, analysing it thoroughly and clinically, all to help us navigate a path when faced with an uncertain future.
While you’re with us, you can join the conversation. This event accompanies the Feeling the Heat exhibition, which is open every day during National Science Week. Write your own letter about how climate change makes you feel to add to the Is This How You Feel? collection. There’ll be a mailbox you can confide in.
After all, climate change is personal. Let’s create a space for exploration and conversation, to recognise how climate change is impacting so many aspects of our lives already.
We’re all in this together.
All ages welcome. Entry is free.
If you can’t get to the exhibition during National Science Week, why not write your own letter and share it with us on Facebook or Twitter @ITHYF_Letters?
