Meet a Penguin Warden

Manly’s Penguin Wardens work tirelessly through the breeding season to ensure our penguins get home safely to breed and raise their chicks.

During each evening of the Sydney Science Festival, come and meet the Penguin Wardens as they keep an eye out for these beloved Manly icons.

Now in its 17th year, the program has 80 wardens patrolling penguin habitat from May to January. Threatened by foxes, dogs, boat strike and habitat destruction, the Wardens work with the community to ensure that our endangered penguin population is given the best chance of recovering.

Chat to the Wardens about these fascinating little penguins from 5:00pm to 6:30pm every evening throughout the Festival and join for a short nightly talk at 5.30pm to learn more about this remarkable citizen science program.

Find the Penguin Wardens at Manly Wharf, near Hugo’s Restaurant.
