Sydney Observatory Night Tours

Presented by Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences

Explore the highlights of the southern sky on a night tour at Sydney’s oldest observatory.

Use our telescopes** to see the stars, Moon, a nebula, Mars or the planets at this quintessential Sydney experience.

Tours include the Planetarium*, a telescope viewing (weather permitting)** and a dome tour.

All night tours are 90 minutes in duration, and available at 6.30pm, 7pm, 8.30pm or 9pm subject to availability***.

Terms and Conditions

*The Planetarium may on occasion be substituted for our Space Theatre, including on 15, 16 and 17 April when it will be closed for maintenance.

**Tours are held regardless of the weather. If viewing through the telescopes is not possible due to sky conditions, other activities will be arranged.

Tickets are non-refundable but may be exchanged or rain checked for patrons who contact the Observatory prior to 12 noon on the day of their tour. Rain checked tickets last for up to three months or three booking attempts. Full terms and conditions are available here.

Please be on time as the tour starts from inside the Observatory building shortly after the doors open. Night visits need to be booked and pre-paid. Bookings, including group bookings, can be made up to three months in advance online or by calling Sydney Observatory (02) 9217 0111.

***7pm and 9pm sessions are available on select evenings only. Please check the available sessions listing online for details.
